Tax Penalty Amnesty Program

Maine Revenue Services recently announced a Tax Receivable Reduction Program that will run from September 1, 2009, to November 30, 2009. Under the Program, taxpayers with tax liabilities that were assessed before September 1, 2009, will be able to resolve those liabilities by paying the tax, interest, and 10% of the assessed penalty. The remaining 90% of the assessed penalties will be waived if payment is made on or before November 1, 2009.
